A large five-star from an international chain, directly on Choeng Mon Beach, with two pools, a spa, a sauna and a gym. The headline scores are solid rather than spectacular: 8.9 on Booking.com, 9.1 on Agoda, from over 2,000 reviews between them.
Comfort and staff both score 9.3, cleanliness 9.2. Guests are broadly happy with the stay.
The number to sit with is value for money at 8.2. That is the lowest in Choeng Mon, and on the whole of Samui only Amari on Chaweng scores lower. It is the same pattern Amari shows: a big branded resort where people enjoy the facilities and feel the bill.
Put it next to PS Thana Resort, a short walk along the same beach at around ฿1,763. PS Thana has far less in the way of facilities, but guests score it 8.9 for value against Meliá’s 8.2, and it scores higher on location too. At around ฿5,293 a night you are paying for the resort, not the position.
