Choeng Mon is the expensive corner of Samui. Garrya Tongsai Bay sits in the same bay at around ฿9,199 a night and Tango Luxe at ฿3,484. This is ฿1,763, and it is on the same beach.
The trade is visible in one number. Facilities score 8.3, the lowest we have recorded on Samui. There is a pool, a garden and a terrace, and that is close to the whole list. If you are choosing Choeng Mon for a resort, this is not it.
What you get instead is position. Location scores 9.4, second in Choeng Mon only to SALA’s 9.5, and ahead of Garrya’s 9.3 and Tango Luxe’s 8.2. The cheapest property in the bay is also one of the best placed within it, which is the sort of thing guest data turns up and a price list never would.
Wifi at 9.8 is genuinely strong, and value for money at 8.9 says people feel they got what they paid for. Cleanliness at 8.9 is the number to watch, respectable but the softest of our Choeng Mon listings.
This is a straightforward proposition: a modest three-star in an expensive bay, well placed, with the facilities you would expect at the price and no pretence otherwise.
