Nimman

The cafe-and-coworking grid west of the Old City, and home to the most-reviewed hotel we list in Chiang Mai.

Nimmanhaemin Road, almost always shortened to Nimman, runs west of the Old City with numbered sois running off it. It is the modern half of Chiang Mai: cafes, coworking spaces and newer hotels rather than temples.

The location scores here are the most consistent of our three Chiang Mai areas, with every pick here scoring between 9.4 and 9.6. That is a neighbourhood where it does not much matter which soi you pick, which is not true of either the Old City or Riverside.

Wifi is the opposite. BED Nimman scores 9.9 and G Nimman, on the same soi, scores 8.0. If you are here to work, read the property’s own number rather than assuming the neighbourhood has you covered.

U Nimman carries 16,058 combined reviews, more than any other property we list in Chiang Mai. Its scores are the most modest we list in Chiang Mai, but they are also the most thoroughly tested.

Local tips

  • Wifi scores here run from 8.0 to 9.9, the widest spread of our Chiang Mai areas, so check the property rather than the area
  • Hotel Sensai, G Nimman and BED Nimman are all adults only, so families should look at U Nimman or another area
  • Our Nimman picks sit between roughly 0.8 and 1.3km from the Old City's north-west corner in a straight line
