The two platforms agree to within a tenth of a point across 1,912 reviews, which is the signal we look for. Scores that diverge between platforms usually mean one of them is thin.

Confirmed on Booking.com (9.4 from 892 reviews) and Agoda (9.3 from 1,020 reviews), checked 16-17 September 2026. Booking does not sub-district Koh Tao, so the area was assigned from coordinates: 0.59km from Ao Tanot against 1.64km to the nearest west coast village. Sub-scores and facilities read from the Booking.com property page. We have not stayed here.

Two platforms, nearly 2,000 reviews between them, and they agree to a tenth of a point: 9.4 on Booking.com, 9.3 on Agoda. That is a well-settled number.

Ecotao sits on the east side of the island, a little over half a kilometre from Ao Tanot, which puts it on the same side as Mae Ya Resort. The interesting difference between the two is location. Guests score Ecotao 9.1 there, against Mae Ya’s 8.7. Both are over the hill from the west coast villages; Ecotao’s guests simply mark it down less for that.

The rest of the board is strong without a weak spot: staff 9.7, comfort 9.6, cleanliness 9.5, and 9.9 for wifi, which matters on an island where a lot of people are working between dives.

At around ฿4,050 a night it is one of the pricier things we list on Koh Tao, and value for money at 9.1 says guests broadly think it earns that.

The same practical warning applies as everywhere on the east coast. The road over is steep, and you should ask about transfers rather than planning to ride a small scooter over with luggage.
